Vem a lume 'Recordes dos Seres Vivos', de Klaus Richarz e Bruno P. Kremer, traduçom galega excecional
Nestes dias de outubro de 2018 chega às livrarias da Galiza Recordes dos Seres Vivos. Anaos e Gigantes, das Bactérias aos Vertebrados, de Klaus Richarz e Bruno P. Kremer, livro de divulgaçom científica, traduzido do alemám por Carlos Garrido e publicado polas Ediçons Laiovento, que representa, verdadeiramente, um notável acontecimento cultural. Trata-se de um acontecimento salientável porquanto, sendo ainda muito escassos os livros de divulgaçom científica que se publicam em galego, o número de livros divulgadores do campo técnico-científico até agora traduzidos em galego, nom mais de seis (!), se revela patentemente ridículo. Diga-se que esta deplorável lacuna cultural e editorial, é claro, em absoluto corresponde a umha modalidade lingüística que desfruta do estatuto legal e social reconhecido hoje ao galego, o que parece apontar, junto com outros múltiplos sinais, para umha situaçom de efetiva e persistente subordinaçom sociocultural da nossa língua na Galiza.
Além disso, esta traduçom de livro de divulgaçom científica representa um caso excecionalmente feliz, ainda muito pouco freqüente, no nosso ámbito editorial: em primeiro lugar, porque Recordes dos Seres Vivos, de Richarz e Kremer, foi vertido para galego a partir de umha língua, o alemám, que, embora constitua um veículo expressivo muito potente da cultura e da ciência, até agora tem sido bastante negligenciada polos tradutores galegos, sobretodo em comparaçom com outros idiomas —mais acessíveis e populares—, como o inglês e o francês; em segundo lugar, porque se trata de umha obra valiosa ainda nom traduzida para outras línguas ibéricas e, em terceiro lugar, e sobretodo, porque a sua publicaçom na Galiza tem lugar com muito pequena demora, de tam só uns poucos meses, a respeito da ediçom original: a obra original (Organismische Rekorde) foi publicada na Alemanha em 2017 pola prestigiosa editora Springer-Verlag, de Heidelberg.
O livro Recordes dos Seres Vivos, que se enquadra no subgénero do infotenimento da divulgaçom científica (v. neste mesmo sítio-web um extrato da «Apresentaçom do tradutor» inclusa na obra), documenta e oferece ao leitor, de maneira cativante e formativa, um amplo leque de dados respeitantes a valores extremos («recordes») dos seres vivos, o que, para além do anedótico, do surpreendente e do curioso, permite apreciar a fascinante adaptaçom dos organismos ao seu meio e a impressionantemente rica —e cada vez mais ameaçada— diversidade da vida. A obra está organizada em cinco partes, de acordo com a classificaçom sistemática dos organismos: Arqueontes e Bactérias, Protistas, Fungos, Plantas e Animais.
Por seu turno, o tradutor galego dos Recordes dos Seres Vivos, Carlos Garrido, revela-se à partida excecionalmente competente na traduçom deste género de obras, pois é professor de Traduçom Técnico-Científica na Universidade de Vigo e doutor em Biologia, além de ter publicado recentemente umha monografia intitulada A Traduçom do Ensino e Divulgaçom da Ciência (2016). O professor Garrido é, além do mais, membro da Comissom Lingüística da Associaçom de Estudos Galegos (CL-AEG), à qual atualmente preside, e tal circunstáncia nom deixa de se apreciar num sentido favorável no galego em que a obra está escrita: ele pauta-se polos modelos da norma galega reintegracionista e da língua de qualidade, destacando pola sua riqueza, caráter genuíno e coordenaçom com as variedades lusitana e brasileira da língua comum. Finalmente, como interessante novidade, cabe assinalarmos que esta traduçom galega, para favorecer a sua difusom internacional, ensaia o expediente de declarar em nota de rodapé os equivalentes lusitanos (e brasileiros) de todas aquelas palavras galegas utilizadas no corpo do texto que som legitimamente diferentes das utilizadas em Portugal e no Brasil, particularismos lexicais galegos, estes, que neste livro se revelam, significativamente, muito pouco numerosos.

Kremer, consignamos que o seu tradutor participará nas próximas semanas em vários atos de lançamento da obra, entre os quais já estám agendados o de Vigo, que terá lugar, introduzido por Jorge Rodrigues Gomes, na livraria Andel, em 8 de novembro, a partir das 20h00, e o de Ourense, introduzido por Vítor Lourenço Peres, na livraria Espaço Leitor Nobel, em 30 de novembro, a partir das 19h30.
